Gist: After losing her father, young woman reminisces about her country roots grounded in faith and family.
Since I was a girl, I’ve admired the film The Coal Miner’s Daughter starring Tommy Lee Jones and Sissy Spacek. The movie depicted an historical tale of how the burgeoning singer-songwriter housewife went on to be a First Lady of Country Music. I understood the stories within the lyrics, and I’d sing along. As my first attempt at writing song lyrics, I wanted to mimic her style, which I’d define as humble, powerful simplicity. This video salutes Ms. Lynn and her beautiful music.
